If patients are entitled to this health care at home, they are reimbursed by their country of origin. The amount of the refund will be the cost of this treatment if it is received at home. In some cases, patients may be required to obtain a permit before being treated, especially when treatment requires a night in a hospital or highly specialized and expensive health care. Not all UK benefits that can be used abroad allow you to benefit from UK-funded health care. Learn more about using benefits when you move abroad or if you go to Jobcenter Plus to claim a benefit. The following non-residents are also entitled to free health care: patients receive the same amount they would receive in their own country for the same type of health care, the same amount. Member States where care is free at the time of delivery must inform patients of their reimbursement rates. If the treatment is cheaper abroad than in the country of origin, the reimbursement reflects the actual price of the treatment.
